Jake Paul makes public challenge to Carl Froch and just days before Tommy Fury fight after being branded ‘a clown’

Jake Paul has promised to fight Carl Froch if he takes on Anderson Silva on his undercard next week.

It follows Froch calling out Paul and branding him ‘a clown’ just days before the YouTube sensation will face Tommy Fury in the ring.

After a war of words that has dominated boxing for months, the two fighters will finally meet on February 26 at the Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arabia.

But the tirade of tongue-lashings have come from many corners, including from British boxing legend Froch and Paul has responded by challenging him in the ring – but only if he faces former UFC middleweight champion Silva first.

The American tweeted: “Carl Froch mad because I made more in one year than he made his whole career.

“You want the payday. I get it.

“So let’s do this, fight Anderson Silva on my next card and if you get lucky and beat him, then we can step in the ring and you make your career payday. Let me know.”

It follows Froch’s claims said on iFL TV, where he said: “These YouTubers aren’t [putting on] real boxing matches, it’s entertainment.

“I’m including Jake Paul in that, he’s not a professional he’s an entertainer.

“He’s good at it so fair play to him, I’ve got nothing against him.

“Just don’t call yourself a professional fighter, you’re a performing clown as they say.”

Froch went on to insist he could make easy work of Paul despite his last fight coming nine years ago, winning his final bout in a rematch against George Groves.

He added: “If a fight with Jake Paul genuinely transpired and he thought to himself, ‘Yeah I’ll take Froch on’, which he never-ever would because it would be ridiculous.

“I might be 45 years old but any retired professional world champion that keeps themselves in good shape would have absolutely no problem playing with Jake Paul.

“It would be like a mismatch. You’d probably have to train a little bit, just to get the lungs and heart filled up with a bit of air.

“Get yourself so you can do at least two minutes of one round.

“You don’t have to worry about doing two or three rounds, but you do need to be able to throw at least 10 punches.

“So yeah I’ll get myself in the 10-punch state but it ain’t going to happen.”
