Jake Paul sends heartfelt message as Mohamed Salah rages at Liverpool missing out on Champions League

Mohamed Salah delivered a brutal assessment of Liverpool’s failure to make the Champions League, but had support from one famous fan.

Manchester United’s 4-1 win over Chelsea closed out the top four this season, ensuring Liverpool will end the campaign in fifth, dropping down to the Europa League.

The Reds will be without Europe’s top tier competition to contest for the first time in seven years, and Salah summed up the blow in an unexpected social media post.

“I’m totally devastated,” he wrote to his 18 million Twitter followers. “There’s absolutely no excuse for this.

“We had everything we needed to make it to next year’s Champions League and we failed. We are Liverpool and qualifying to the competition is the bare minimum.

“I am sorry but it’s too soon for an uplifting or optimistic post. We let you and ourselves down.”

The post was accompanied with a black and white picture of Liverpool’s all-time top European goalscorer, who won the Champions League with the Reds in 2019.

Salah has been supreme in the competition, helping Jurgen Klopp’s side to a further two finals, and he has a personal record of 44 goals in 79 games.

The Egyptian and his teammates had probably started dreaming of a top four finish as they strung together seven Premier League wins while United and Newcastle faltered.

But with a draw against Aston Villa last time out, the race was all-but over before their rivals added the final nails to the coffin.

It was a rare statement from Liverpool’s talisman, but he had some support from one of his most famous fans, YouTuber turned boxer, Jake Paul.

The American wrote: “It’s okay we still love you. Alexa, play You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
