Jordan Pickford and Alex Iwobi made amends after the pair were each culpable for a Leicester goal in the crucial relegation clash.
The Toffees made a great start in the six-pointer at the King Power Stadium with Dominic Calvert-Lewin putting them ahead on 15 minutes with a penalty.
But two mistakes from Sean Dyche’s side allowed Leicester to turn the game on its head, the first saw Caglar Soyuncu’s effort slip through Pickford’s legs.
On Pickford’s error, Andy Townsend said on commentary for talkSPORT: “I’m looking at the goalkeeper, I’m surprised the ball ends up in the back of the net.
“It comes back to Soyuncu, Pickford almost loses his footing a little bit, it’s a half-hearted strike that ends up going through the middle of the goal.
“Jordan Pickford, to me, should be doing better than that. I think he’s got to be stopping that. He probably feels one of those defenders should’ve done more to make the block.
“I’m looking at the goalie expecting him to make a stop there.”
But Everton were not done shooting themselves in the foot when Iwobi gave the ball away carelessly in the middle of the pitch.
The result was fatal as most of Everton’s players had progressed up the pitch, meaning one pass forward released the timeless Jamie Vardy.
And the 36-year-old rolled back the years by breezing into the box and tucking the ball past Pickford in vintage Vardy fashion.
“Really poor give-away there from Alex Iwobi,” Townsend said.
Remarkably, there was more drama when Calvert-Lewin had a golden chance to score an equaliser. But from just six yards out, the striker fluffed his lines as Leicester got away with a lax moment at the back.
But Pickford and Iwobi managed to redeem themselves, the former first when he saved a crucial penalty just before half-time was called.
IJames Maddison had the chance to give the Foxes some breathing room but his awful penalty was easily saved by Pickford, giving Everton something to fight for in the second-half.
And Iwobi made it a great start to the second half for the Toffees when his first-time volley whistled past Daniel Iversen in the home net, making up for his earlier mistake in the match as the enthralling clash finished 2-2.
