Mango Dragon Fruit Refresher – A Beautiful Mess

If you love Starbucks Refresher drinks, you have to try this homemade recipe for the Mango Dragon Fruit Refresher. This drink is sometimes called Dragon Drink for its bright pink dragon fruit color.

The flavor is bright and the fruit and color are intensely pink. The best part is you can make this drink at home and customize it to your needs (I make ours without caffeine for my children to enjoy!). It’s so much fun to make a fancy drink at home.

I love to make recipes using dragon fruit (here’s my Dragon Fruit Smoothie Recipe). The bright pink color is so fun and vibrant and it pairs well with all tropical fruits.

Ingredients

  • Dragon Fruit Powder – The easiest way to source dragon fruit for your recipes is a high quality dragon fruit powder.
  • Water
  • Sugar
  • Citric Acid – Gives your drink a fresh citrus flavor.
  • Mango Nectar – This ingredient is thicker than mango juice and gives a creamy, tropical flavor.
  • Green Coffee Extract – This gives your drink a boost of caffeine. If you prefer to make your drink without caffeine, simply omit this ingredient.
  • Dragon Fruit Chips – These healthy chips are made from one ingredient—dried dragon fruit. I bought my dragon fruit chips on Amazon. Break them into small pieces for this recipe.

Directions

Begin by making the mango dragon fruit base. In a sauce pan, combine sugar, water, dragon fruit powder, mango nectar, citric acid, and green tea extract.

Mix over medium heat until ingredients are dissolved and fully combined. Remove from heat and cool. This will make enough base to create two drinks.

To mix a drink, combine one part base and one part water and a handful of dragon fruit chips in a shaker. Shake and serve over ice with a few more dried dragon fruit pieces on top as garnish.

Tips for Making

  • Dragon fruit powder is a great ingredient that you can use anytime you want to make a recipe hot pink naturally. We also use it in our Dragon Fruit Smoothie. The more powder you use, the more intense the pink color will become.
  • If you can’t find mango nectar in your local grocery store, you can purchase some on Amazon.
  • I like to rinse out and save old Starbucks cups to serve my homemade copycat recipes in. My kids love it.
