Marcus Rashford saves David de Gea’s blushes and helps Red Devils beat stubborn Toffees at Old Trafford

Manchester United continued their excellent run of form as they qualified for the FA Cup fourth round thanks to a 3-1 win over Everton.

The Red Devils weren’t at their best but Marcus Rashford inspired the hosts to an important win and save David de Gea’s blushes.

Rashford created the first goal for Antony before the Toffees equalised after De Gea managed to let a tame Neal Maupay effort creep through his legs and Conor Coady was there to tap the ball in.

But Coady then scored at the wrong end as he diverted Rashford’s cross beyond Jordan Pickford early in the second half.

Frank Lampard’s side pushed and had a brilliant equaliser ruled out for offside before substitute Alejandro Garnacho was fouled in the box by Ben Godfrey.

Rashford stepped up to make it five consecutive games with a goal for the England man, who is in top form.

Meanwhile, the Toffees were backed by 9,500 travelling fans and there were plenty of positives on display for them to take.
