“An overall positive week after so many months away from the tour. The road ahead is long but good steps have been made and I’m happy to be in the right direction.
Now let’s get back to work. Thanks for all the support. I really appreciate it so much. I’m going to Miami.”

These were the words of Matteo Berrettini, shared in an Instagram post, after the good week spent at the ATP Challenger in Phoenix, Arizona. The Italian tennis player will now move to Florida, where he will play the Miami Open.

In, Miami Berrettini is called upon to give continuity to his growth path even if, obviously, the challenges are on a much different level compared to the Phoenix Challenger.

Fate put Andy Murray in front of him, who caused a very painful defeat for the Italian at the 2023 Australian Open, after a 5 set battle. But now Berrettini aims to write a new page in his career.

Matteo come back on the court in an ATP Masters 1000

Last week, the ATP Challenger 175 in Phoenix, Arizona attracted the attention of fans because, while the great stars of world tennis were playing for the title in Indian Wells, California, in Arizona there was Matteo’s return to the court Berrettini.

A long-awaited return to the court after a long period out which followed the injury sustained at the 2023 US Open in the match against Rinderknech. A return that had been postponed several times but has now happened.

And with a week in which Matteo Berrettini was the absolute protagonist. Managing to win four matches in a row, stringing together several comebacks and it’s a shame that the final against the Portuguese Nuno Borges didn’t go in the desired direction.

Berrettini has already started to recover positions in the ATP ranking in which he has already moved to position 142. But above all it was a very positive week which showed how Berrettini is on the right path to be able to return to competing not in Challenger tournaments but in tournaments that they matter.
