Morgan Gibbs-White was seen placing his fingers on his ears in the direction of the fans of former club Wolves after Nottingham Forest beat them in the Carabao Cup.
The two sides drew 1-1 during normal time, with a penalty shootout therefore being required to decide the tie.
With the score at 4-3, Forest goalkeeper Dean Henderson was on hand to deny Joe Hodges from the spot to send Forest through.
The 25-year-old sparked jubilation at the City ground, with Gibbs-White also getting involved in the celebrations.
He put his fingers to his ears in front of the travelling support after netting his penalty, despite coming through the academy at Wolves.
His Forest teammate Henderson could also be seen teasing the opposition support by cupping his ears to the visiting crowd after his save.
Soon after, stewards were called into action as some players from both sides came to blows on the pitch.
However, it is not yet clear if this was as a result of Gibbs-White or Henderson’s antics.
Former Wolves defender Willy Boly gave Forest the lead in the first half, although he chose not to celebrate in front of the away fans.
Shortly after the hour mark, the away side found an equaliser through Raul Jimenez, with the striker netting from Matheus Cunha’s cross.
Penalties then commenced following the full-time whistle, with Forest proving triumphant on the night.
They will now face Manchester United in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, joining Newcastle and Southampton in the final four.
