Newcastle targets James Maddison and Harvey Barnes benched as Leicester boss Dean Smith explains shock omissions


Leicester boss Dean Smith said his side need to be harder to beat as he explained his decision to drop both James Maddison and Harvey Barnes.

The pair, both linked with Newcastle, are shock omissions from the Foxes’ starting line-up for their crucial clash against their Champions League chasing opponents on Monday night.

Barnes and Maddison have been bright sparks in what’s been a miserable season for Leicester

On his starting XI, Smith said: “We decided to change it. We need to be harder to beat.

“The last couple of games we have needed lots of goals to win them so we needed to make a change. We picked a team we feel can compete.”
