Nick Kyrgios dismisses retirement rumors, at least for now, by declaring that he will return to compete on the Tour in 2024. There are quite a few similarities in the 2023 season of Rafael Nadal and Nick Kyrgios. Both players played just one match during the year, were out of action for a very long time due to different but important injuries and, according to some recent rumours, will experience their last year as a professional athlete in 2024.

While the Spanish champion has clarified the rumors about his future, openly declaring how he will try to get more satisfaction in the next season before definitively saying goodbye to his professional career, there are many doubts relating to the career of the Australian tennis player.

The Canberra native also played only one match this year, at the ATP 250 in Stuttgart on grass, losing in two sets to the Chinese Wu Yibing. The 28-year-old has been dealing with various physical problems since the Australian Open, a tournament from which he had to withdraw in both singles and doubles, previously won against Thanasi Kokkinakis, and at Wimbledon he announced that he will not participate in other competitions to try to recover the best shape.

After a great 2022, Nick will try to return to competing on the ATP circuit in 2024. The Australian has a great desire to return and put his knee injury behind him, which also forced him to undergo surgery.

Recently, the Canberra player spoke about it when speaking on Mike Tyson’s podcast: “I’m trying to get back to competing as soon as possible, because I miss tennis.

Last year I came very close to winning Wimbledon, now I feel like I’m there and had a chance to achieve something important.”

Thanks to the protected ranking, as well as Rafael Nadal, Kyrgios will try to regain his confidence and climb the world rankings again.

His main goal is to soon be competitive in big tournaments, even at the level of the best tennis players on the circuit.

The memories are indelible, for the tennis player but also for the fans, of the final in London in 2022 against Novak Djokovic, who ultimately managed to prevail in four sets.

However, with Kyrgios, you can never be certain of anything: his unpredictability can lead to all solutions. His retirement after 2024 cannot be ruled out, just as it cannot be ruled out that he will compete for many more years.
