Nick Kyrgios: ‘I love romantic comedies’

Nick Kyrgios has not always behaved correctly on the track and has repeatedly disrespected the spectators, his rivals and the referees. But as everyone knows: the pitch can often transform an athlete and give the wrong image of a person.

In his everyday life, the Australian tennis player has always supported the less fortunate, as his charitable foundation can attest. Kyrgios also told his story without mincing words: that of an overweight boy too attentive to the judgments of others.

A boy who suffered and struggled to overcome his demons. “I recently had surgery on my left knee, so I won’t be able to play for a while. Tennis is a brutal sport. It’s very hard: you play a five-hour match and you only have one day to recover.

To win a Grand Slam you have to win seven tough matches, it’s almost impossible. You lose almost every week and it’s hard. People don’t understand how complicated it is to lose and then travel to play another tournament. Only one player wins,” Kyrgios explained to Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast.

“I don’t do anything so crazy if we think about other sports. In tennis I can’t cross the line because they would suspend me and I need to play. When people post something on social media about tennis, they always talk about me, Novak Djokovic or Rafael Nadal.

No one else’s. They always use my name to sell tickets.” Kyrgios opened up about his past. The Australian spoke of the hardest and darkest time in his life, characterized by depression, drugs and alcohol. “I went through a phase where I hated tennis, then I realized a lot of people were watching me.

That is important. Last year was fantastic: I reached the Wimbledon final. I finally did something that will stay with me forever. I trained seriously and did things well. It is often said that I wasted my talent, that I will never be truly satisfied.”

Kyrgios loves romantic comedies

Nick Kyrgios came out as a “massive” conspiracy theorist, giving his take on the most popular conspiracy theories going around at the moment.

“I’m a massive conspiracy theorist,” he said. “I don’t even know what to believe anymore. I love romantic comedies. Have you seen the Intern? With Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. You should see it. Horrors and romcoms are my thing.

I’m actually in talk with the producer of ‘Saw’ right now, I’m trying to get into the movie, like I want to die on the show like the dog,” Nick Kyrgios said. “I’m a real sicko.”
