Nikola Jokic passes Wilt Chamberlain for most triple-doubles in single postseason

On Monday, Denver Nuggets fans celebrated the legacy of future Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony as he officially retired from the NBA. But current star Nikola Jokic continues to make his mark as a great in the Mile High City.

During Game 4 of the Western Conference finals in Los Angeles, Jokic earned his eighth triple-double of the postseason, setting an NBA record. The two-time MVP passed Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain in the third quarter, when he scored 13 points in the period and the Nuggets took their first lead of the game over the Los Angeles Lakers. Chamberlain’s record had stood for 56 years.

Midway through the fourth quarter, Jokic had 23 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists.

The 28-year-old center finished second in MVP voting for the 2022-23 season as Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid earned his first title.

If the Nuggets close out Game 4 against the Lakers, they will advance to their first NBA Finals.

LeBron James was also having a highly productive night and played all 24 minutes of the first half. He had 31 points at the break, a career-high in the postseason.

A team has never come back from an 0-3 deficit to win a series.
