‘Novak Djokovic has always been very sincere’, says top analyst

Argentina will have to win their match against Finland, scheduled for February 4 and 5, to access the final phase of the Davis Cup 2023. The team led by Guillermo Coria will include Francisco Cerúndolo, Pedro Cachín, Facundo Bagnis, Andrés Molteni and Maximo Gonzalez.

Cerúndolo, Argentine number two, will try to make use of all the experience he gained last year on the big circuit. The 24-year-old from Buenos Aires rose to 24th place in the standings (he is currently number 31 in the world, ed.) thanks to his first title in Bastad and the semifinals at the Masters 1000 in Miami and at the ATP 500 tournaments in Rio de Janeiro and Hamburg.

“We are training very well. The team is united and we have a very good relationship, that is the key. It will be a very tough series that we will play on a very fast track. Each point will be very close and both teams will have their chances,” the Argentine explained to the official Davis Cup website.

“I know Ruusuvuori very well. He plays very well and gets better every time.” Cerundolo had the opportunity to play Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon 2022 and to speak several times with Novak Djokovic. “At this point in my career it’s incredible that people like Djokovic and Nadal recognize me, greet me and congratulate me after a match.

I faced Rafa at Wimbledon and, since then, we greet each other and exchange a few words every time we meet on the Tour.” Djokovic, for his part, has a very good relationship with the Argentine and always talks to us during tournaments.

Without a doubt, they are the two best players. The next tournament where Djokovic and Nadal would reappear would be the ATP 500 in Dubai which is played at the end of this month. The Serbian is recovering from a tear in his left leg, but everything indicates that he will play as many tournaments as he can since he will not be able to be present at the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells and Miami.

Corretja comments on Djokovic

Former Spanish tennis professional Alex Corretja has spoken highly of Novak Djokovic after his record-extending 10th Australian Open title. “Look how Djokovic celebrated the other day [Australian Open win] and how he hugged his family and especially his brother and his mother.

When he hugs his brother, he feels that harmony that works with Pepe Imaz and at that moment Djokovic feels that this work is not in vain,” he told Cadena SER (via Express). “That hug to his brother is the accumulation of managing many situations for years,” he added.

“What Djokovic transmits is pure passion for everything he does. I think that Djokovic has been misunderstood many times, he has a very big soul, beyond his things and his ideals, which he has maintained and respected without deceiving anyone, he has always been very sincere”.
