‘Put the dog up for sale’ – Mikel Arteta told to sell Win the dog after Arsenal miss out on Premier League title

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has jokingly been told to sell the club’s latest ‘family’ member after being pipped to the title by Manchester City.

The Gunners will finish the Premier League in second spot following their 1-0 defeat away at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Their failure to claim the crucial three points has seen the Citizens crowned as top-flight champions for a third consecutive campaign.

Ahead of the clash at the City Ground, Arteta revealed the club have brought in a secret weapon – a chocolate Labrador affectionately named as Win.

A now permanent fixture at London Colney, Arteta told the club’s website that the dog is the newest addition of Arsenal’s ‘family’.

And following Arsenal’s defeat against Forest, talkSPORT host and ex-Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor couldn’t hold back in making a jibe about the adorable dog.

Speaking on the GameDay phone-In, former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara praised Arsenal for going close in ending their 19-year wait for the league championship.

He said: “Fair play to Manchester City, they come good after the World Cup, just started putting in performances, and they were just hunting down Arsenal.

“And their performances of Jack Grealish, [Erling] Haaland, [Kevin] De Bruyne, Rodri, John Stones, all of a sudden that formation where he goes into midfield.

“They just turned into a beast and no one has been able to keep up with them.

“And Arsenal, fair play they had a go and they will look at this season as a success.

“But they have finished second in a one-horse race.”

Quick to make a dig at Arsenal and Arteta, Agbonlahor quipped: “Put the dog up for sale.”

His comment drew immediate laughter from O’Hara, who stated: “Contact Mikel Arteta.”
