Rangers vs Celtic LIVE: Scottish League Cup final sees famous rivals face off as Gers look for first trophy under Michael Beale and Hoops aim for 21st title

Scotland’s giants will meet in the League Cup final this Sunday as the bitter rivals compete to win the first trophy of the season. 

Rangers will face Celtic at Hampden Park with Michael Beale aiming for his maiden piece of silverware and the Hoops looking to continue their domination in the competition.

Beale won the Scottish Premiership as assistant to Steven Gerrard in 2021 and will now hope that he can get off the mark in his tenure as Rangers manager. 

As for Celtic, they have won five of the last six Scottish League Cups, beating Hibernian in the final last season, and sit nine points clear of the Gers at the top of the league.

Rangers vs Celtic: Date and how to watch

The Scottish League Cup final will take place on Sunday, February 26. 

Kick-off at Hampden Park is scheduled for 3pm. 

The final will be shown live on Viaplay from 2pm. Viaplay costs £14.99-a-month and can be cancelled at any time.

Rangers vs Celtic: What has been said? 

Rangers manager Beale is anticipating a tough game on Sunday.

Speaking before the final, he said: “This weekend is about winning.

“So let’s just focus on whatever it takes over 90 or 120 minutes and do ourselves justice. In both teams, there are more than enough people who can step forward. My hope is they are in a blue jersey.

“Our form has been very good. Celtic’s form has been very good as well, so we’ve not been able to cut the points gap.

“We’re certainly in a better place but I also think they are in a better place. It’s two very good teams going head-to-head.”

Celtic boss Postecoglou added: “As a football club, and particularly this team, we want to be relentless in our approach of trying to win every game and trophy we’re involved in.

“The intent is always going to be there. Winning something will never give will give us the luxury of not going full pelt for the next one.

“The expectations when you go into a new season at this football club is you try to challenge for everything that’s there.

“What’s happened the year before is either in your trophy cabinet or someone else’s. It’s about making sure the players are prepared for the challenge, that’s my role within that.”
