Sam Allardyce to Leeds could be bad news for Arsenal fans

Leeds fans will no doubt have their eyes glued to their phones with manager Javi Gracia set to be sacked.

But they won’t be the only set of Premier League supporters keen to see whether Big Sam Allardyce gets the job.

Arsenal fans won’t be thrilled with the news of Garcia’s potential replacement

Gracia is expected to be dismissed from the relegation-threatened club on Tuesday after a dismal run of form left them 17th.

With four games left to fight for their Premier League lives, Leeds next face title chasing Manchester City on Saturday.

talkSPORT understands former Everton, Crystal Palace and Sunderland boss Allardyce has agreed to take over until the end of the season.

But while he has many successful relegation battles on his CV, his appointment will spell bad news for Man City’s title rivals – Arsenal.

The Gunners are relying on Pep Guardiola’s side to drop points in the run in as they try to reclaim their spot at the top of the table despite Man City having a game in hand.

But Allardyce’s links to Leeds could be a bad omen for Arsenal fans ahead of the match at the Etihad this weekend.

Allardyce hasn’t beaten Man City since his days at Upton Park

Since he first took on Man City in 1998 with Notts County, the ex-England manager has faced the Sky Blues 34 times in his career.

And his record against them won’t be music to Arsenal fans’ ears, given he’s won just six games, drawing five and losing the other 23 with the various clubs he’s managed over the years.

His most recent result was a 5-0 loss against them with now-Championship side West Brom, a season that saw the Baggies suffer relegation to the second tier.

Meanwhile, his last win against Man City came in 2014, as West Ham beat them 2-1 at Upton Park – so Gunners fans relying on him to peg Man City back won’t be filled with too much confidence.

Arsenal next face Chelsea on Tuesday night in a must win game for Arteta’s side against their London rivals whilst Man City face West Ham on Wednesday. You can listen to both games live on talkSPORT.
