The start of next season is now imminent. Already from the last days of December many tennis players will return to the court for the first official tournaments of the new season. For example, on December 31st there will be Rafael Nadal’s highly anticipated come back on the court.

The first part of the season, as we well know, will culminate at the Australian Open, the first Major of 2024. Rennae Stubbs, former coach of the US tennis legend Serena Williams, sees Iga Swiatek as the favorite for the final victory, in Melbourne.

A Slam in which she never shone, at least till now!

Why Stubbs believe Swiatek can win the Australian Open 2024

According to Rennae Stubbs, Swiatek learned more about herself in this 2023. According to some fans and insiders, Iga suffered ups and downs in 2023, while trying to repeat the extraordinary results of 2022.

Personally, as I wrote a few days ago in one of our editorials, how can you say that the No.1 in the WTA ranking, winner of six titles, including a Slam and the WTA Finals, has suffered from ups and downs? But that’s another story!

During the The Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast, former Serena Williams’ coach explained: “I think Iga Swiatek is by far the favorite now going into the Australian Open but I think what she did this year was a learning experience about how to handle the pressure At the start of the year, I know that she was very aware of her winning streak from the year before.

I know that she was putting a ton of pressure on herself to have that same year and was a little bit sort of overwhelmed by it in some respects. I think she learned a lot about herself this year and I think she’s going to be even better next year.”
