Lewis is already working as team captain in the 2023 edition, which will be played at the Finca Cortesín course from September 22 to 24.

With the renewal it will also do so next year at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia (United States), from September 10 to 15, 2024. In February 2022 Lewis was named captain of the team that will face the European at Finca Cortesín.

At 38 years, 7 months, and 6 days on the first day of competition in 2023 and 39 years, 5 months, and 28 days in 2024, Lewis will be the youngest American captain in Solheim history. Stacy Lewis is a 13-time winner on the LPGA Tour and owns two majors: the 2011 Chevron Championship and the 2013 AIG Women’s Open.

In 2016 she was a member of ‘Team USA’ at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, where she finished tied for fourth place. Lewis represented the United States on the 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017 Solheim Cup teams. In 2019, Lewis served as the unofficial assistant captain under Juli Inkster after withdrawing from the competition through injury, and worked in that role officially under Pat Hurst in 2021.

The Solheim Cup is a biennial golf tournament for professional female golfers contested by teams representing Europe and the United States. It is named after the Norwegian-American golf club maker Karsten Solheim, who was a driving force behind its creation.

The Rules of Golf are a set of standard rules and procedures by which the sport of golf should be played. They are jointly written and maintained by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, the governing body for golf worldwide, outside of the United States and Mexico, which are governed by the United States Golf Association.

An expert commission made up of members of the R&A and USGA, oversees and refines the rules every four years. The latest revision has been in force since January 1, 2016. Changes to the rules of golf generally fall into two main categories: those that improve understanding and those that in certain cases reduce penalties to ensure balance.

The rule book, entitled “Rules of Golf”, is published on a regular basis and also includes rules governing amateur status. In Italy it is up to Federgolf to supervise the competitions by enforcing the rules issued by the R & A, checking that these rules are observed by the Clubs, Associations and their members and manages the resulting sporting justice, protecting their interests abroad.
