Stefanos Tsitsipas is yet to find his A-game on grass this season. Following an early Stuttgart loss, Stefanos experienced another in Halle, falling to Nicolas Jarry 7-6, 7-5 in the second round. The Chilean sealed the deal in an hour and 51 minutes for his second grass-court win over the Greek from as many encounters.

They fired 63 service winners (33-30 for Stefanos), and Nicolas played better in the decisive moments. Jatty denied all five break points and delivered one break in the second set’s closing stages to seal the deal in straight sets and reach the last eight.

Tsitsipas wasted many break chances in the opener and a set point in the tie break. He felt pressure in the second set’s final part to lose serve and experience an early loss. The Chilean faced three break points in the encounter’s first game, defending them and closing it with a forehand down the line forehand winner.

They served well in the upcoming games, and the Greek landed a service winner in the eighth to lock the result at 4-4 after 28 minutes.

Nicolas Jarry ousted Stefanos Tsitsipas in two tight sets.

Jarry saved two more break points in the ninth game, finding service winners in the pivotal moments and holding with a smash winner for 5-4.

Tsitsipas served to stay in the set at 5-6 and missed a volley to experience two set points. Stefanos denied them and held to introduce a tie break. Jarry missed a routine backhand at 5-5 and offered Tsitsipas a set point. The Chilean saved it with a volley winner at the net and created a set point after the Greek’s wayward backhand.

Stefanos saved it with a forehand winner to level the score at 7-7 and add more drama. Jarry grabbed the crucial mini-break in the 15th point with a winner at the net and wrapped up the set with a service winner after 57 minutes.

Stefanos saved a break point at the start of the second set, and they served well until 4-4. Tsitsipas saved a break chance and faced the ultimate test at 5-5. Jarry passed him with a backhand crosscourt winner and created three break points.

The Greek denied the opening two with volley winners, and the Chilean grabbed the third after forcing the rival’s mistake at the net. Nicolas served for the victory at 6-5 and created three match points with a forehand down the line winner.

He clinched the first after forcing Stefanos’ error to emerge at the top and advance into the quarter-final.
