3.10: Tawafag 10/11
Tawafag trained by Roger Varian and Emaculate Soldier trained by Simon & Ed Crisford both have exceptional form when it comes to their three-year-olds on the all-weather.
Varian’s strike-rate between 2019 and 2023 is 24% (with 114 placed from 431 runs).
Similarly, Cisford’s win-rate is 25% with 79 places from a total of 250 runs.
But Tawafag has already got the experience on the all-weather, winning 163 days ago at Wolverhampton on his second start.

Newmarket betting tips
3.00: Empirestateofmind (to place) 11/4
Finishes in the top three more often than not and goes on his second run of the season after a respectable five-length seventh at Doncaster at the start of the month.
Might have needed the run on seasonal debut to dust off some more cobwebs from a winter break but can’t be ruled out in big field handicaps.
Cases can also be made, at least as an each-way bet, for Greatgadian who has Aidan Keeley on board to take off 5lb, plus introduction of cheekpieces might prompt more improvement.
3.35: Reach For The Moon 6/1
Slightly expensive to follow this star who still has huge potential for trainer John & Thady Gosden, mostly under Frankie Dettori.
But since winning the Betway Solario Stakes in Sandown in 2021, hit the bar three times and then faded away in the Prix Perth in October, all as favourite.
Has been gelded since though and his form speaks for itself being close behind Claymore and My Prospero.
Also wears first-time blinkers in the King & Queen Consort’s silks, which can all attribute to improvements.
Entry into this very strong Sefton Stakes suggests there’s hope from the yard.
Southwell betting tips
5.25: Fox Flame 4/6
Won comfortably on step up to 1m4f, by six lengths to Damascus Steel and goes up 6lb and up in grade for that win.
But the style in which he appreciated this distance suggests he’s easily the one to beat this time out in a fairly weak 0-70.
