Thor undergoes surgery for horrific muscle tear while trying live stream bench press

Game of Thrones star Hafthor Bjornsson has officially begun his recovery process after tearing his pectoral muscle during a live stream.

The former World’s Strongest man recently returned to weightlifting after taking two years away from the sport where he made his name to pursue a boxing career which included a win over long-time rival Eddie Hall

Thor has been documenting his recovery process on social media

Unfortunately, he suffered a horrific injury while trying to bench press a personal best 556lbs during a competition at his gym in Iceland earlier this month.

Footage showing Thor lowering the weight to his chest and screaming in pain after a snapping noise was heard was shared on social media and quickly went viral.

After injuring himself in such a public manner, the 34-year-old is determined to keep fans informed about his recovery process and has been posting updates on YouTube and social media – the latest being several pictures after getting operated on.

‘“The three stages of recovery,” he wrote on Thursday alongside pictures that showed him unconscious in a hospital bed, drinking some juice and heading home with a smile on his face.

Uploading three jokey pictures after surgery is in keeping with the positive way Thor has approached his injury which has provided him with several difficult but funny obstacles to overcome in daily life.

“Things are tough, I’ve got to be honest with you,” he said in a YouTube video.

“Hopefully, I can make some of you laugh now. Things like wiping my a*** is difficult. I’m left-handed. My left hand is completely… You know, I have a hard time wiping my a***, putting my underwear on is difficult. It’s life.”

Despite taking the injury in stride, the popular strongman is determined to make a quick recovery and get back to doing what he does best as soon as possible.

Thor added: “I have got to take this now. I’ve got to figure out how to recover as fast as possible.

“Things aren’t easy, but this is just a new journey, a new chapter in my journey. This is literally the biggest injury of my whole career. So, I’ve got to take this guys.”
