Tiger Woods joins the PGA Tour policy board as the sixth “player director”.The Californian champion joins his colleagues Patrick Cantlay, Charley Hoffman, Peter Malnati, Rory McIlroy and Webb Simpson. But the move by the top American men’s circuit came after a request from 41 professional golfers who, through a letter sent to commissioner Jay Monahan, asked for a greater say especially after the story relating to the alliance between the Pga Tour and Liv Golf .

Thus, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm, respectively number 1, 2 and 3 in the world, have called not only for the appointment of Woods to the policy board but also for an immediate overhaul of the governance structure of the PGA Tour.

After winning three consecutive US amateur circuit titles (1994, 1995 and 1996), he turned pro, winning two circuit tournaments in his first year.
