Tiger Woods, record at the Augusta Masters

Although with the last useful score, in Augusta (Georgia, USA) Tiger Woods for the 23rd consecutive time exceeds the cut at The Masters and equals the record of Gary Player and Fred Couples. Since 1997, “The Big Cat” has never bowed out mid-round in the most glamorous Major in world golf.

Only 49/o with 147 (74 73, +3), the Californian – certainly not in optimal physical condition – achieved his first objective despite two bogeys in the finale. In an event characterized by bad weather in the second round, with two fallen trees, which saw the eliminations of Francesco Molinari, 55/o with 148 (+4), and Rory McIlroy, 60/o with 149 (+5).

For the eighth time in his career, the Northern Irishman, world number 2, has failed to fulfill his dream of completing the Grand Slam.

Masters, results

At the Augusta National Golf Club (par 72), temple of the green, he is challenged in the challenge between Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm.

The first, four times Major champion, is among the stars of the Arab Super League and in the USA he leads The Masters with a total of 132 (65 67, -12) shots, two ahead of the Spaniard, 2/o with 134 ( -10), third in the world ranking, leader of the FedEx Cup and among the certainties of European golf towards the Ryder Cup in Rome.

Behind the two big names is the American amateur Sam Bennett, 3/o with 136 (-8) and the big surprise of the event. The Norwegian Viktor Hovland and the Californian Collin Morikawa are further behind, both 4/i with 138 (-6).

An important page of the 87th edition of the Masters was also written (once again) by Fred Couples, 40/o with 145 (+1), the oldest player (at the age of 63) to pass the cut. Instead, it is far from the Scottie Scheffler peak.

The leader of the world ranking, defending champion, is only 28/o with 143 (-1), 11 strokes away from the top. And now the “moving day”, with bad weather still the protagonist between rain and wind. Since 1960, the Par 3 Contest has been held on Wednesday of the week of the tournament: it is a mini-tournament on 9 par 3 holes in which the players are often accompanied by relatives, friends and boyfriends as caddies; the winner is the player who achieves the lowest score at the end of the nine holes.

Spectacular shots and numerous holes in one are often seen, however no Par 3 Contest winner has gone on to win the Masters.
