Tiger Woods will miss the US Open, the third men’s major of 2023 scheduled for June 15-18 in Los Angeles, California. The 15-time champion is in fact recovering from foot surgery, aimed at resolving the post-traumatic arthritis deriving from his previous heel fracture.

After also missing the Pga Championship, The Masters, a tournament that forced him to withdraw due to injury, could therefore be the only Grand Slam played by the Californian champion in 2023. The 1975 class, in all likelihood, will not even play The Open , from 20 to 23 July at the Royal Liverpool in Hoylake (Merseyside), England.

Eldrick Tont Woods, better known as Tiger Woods, born December 30, 1975 in Cypress, California, is an American golfer. He is one of the greatest golfers of all time and one of the most popular sportsmen of the early 21st century.

Winner of the 1997 Masters, he became world number 1 less than a season after becoming a professional. Dominant for most of the 2000s, various physical knee and back problems forced him to reinvent his game.

Commercial figure, headliner of Nike, Tiger Woods multiplies lucrative contracts off the course, making him one of the richest sportsmen of the 2000s. Even when a scandal erupts over his tormented private life and the difficulties of his marriage in 2009, Tiger Woods continues to be one of the highest paid players in the world.

In April 2019, at the age of 43, he achieved in Augusta the feat of winning a 5th Masters and his 15th career major title, eleven years after his last major victory1,2,3. On May 6, 2019, he was decorated by United States President Donald Trump with America’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom. On March 9, 2022, he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
