Tiger Woods, two new golfers for his project

After Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas, the list of golf big names who have decided to join The Golf League (TGL) is getting longer. Collin Morikawa and Adam Scott have also announced that they have embraced the project launched by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, in collaboration with the PGA Tour, which will kick off in 2024 and will see technology as the protagonist.

Tiger Woods, situation

Meanwhile, while the new green show is still a year away, new details on the format are emerging. There will be 15 events, they will be played on Monday evenings starting from January 2024 and there will be six teams made up of three players each.

The events will take place on virtual routes. Eldrick Tront Woods was born to an African American father, Earl and a Thai mother, Kultida. Nicknamed “Tiger” by his father [7], he started playing golf practically from the time he could walk and was soon considered something of a child prodigy of the specialty.

In 1990, at the age of fifteen, he was the youngest golfer to win the National Junior Championships, a success he also repeated in the following two years. After winning three consecutive US amateur circuit titles (1994, 1995 and 1996), he turned pro, winning two circuit tournaments in his first year.

Winner of 15 major tournaments (second only to Jack Nicklaus, with 18) between 1997 and 2019, he indelibly marked the history of this sport, bringing it under the spotlight after years in which such a dominant and charismatic figure was missing.

Among the many moments that have gone down in golf history, they remember the incredible holed approach to the 16th of the last round of the 2005 Masters, and the victory after a play-off hole against Rocco Mediate at the U.S.

2008 Open at the end of the four rounds played with a tibia fracture and a knee ligament that will be reconstructed a few days later. Historic rivalries with Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh, among the only athletes able to undermine his dominance, even if only on and off.

Tiger Woods holds the incredible number of 54 wins and only 4 losses in tournaments in which he led after three rounds, a record that has fueled the myth of the unbeatable “Sunday Tiger Woods”, unfailingly dressed in a red T-shirt and black pants Sunday of the final lap (his mother passed on this little superstition to him since he was a child).

He holds the record for fewest strokes in all 4 Majors, is together with Jack Nicklaus the only player to have won the “Career Grand Slam” three times, and the only golfer in history to have won more than a Major Tournament for 2 consecutive years (2005-2006).
