Following Jon Rahm’s move to LIV Golf, rumors started circulating about others potentially joining. Tony Finau’s name frequently comes up in these discussions, given his close friendship and good relationship with Rahm. Despite widespread expectations for a quick response from Finau, he clarified in a media interview that he hadn’t yet heard any such rumors.
“I have nothing to say right now. I haven’t heard anything,” Finau reacted to rumors, as quoted by golfmonthly.com! Finau confirmed that he had no additional answer to the question that obviously surprised him. “No, not yet,” he said.
“I haven’t let anything marinate other than just playing right now. ” Speaking to Sports Illustrated, he also confirmed that he respects Jon Rahm’s decision to join LIV Golf. His departure from the PGA Tour caused a lot of reaction.
Although it was expected that the Spaniard might leave the PGA Tour, it was still hard to believe. Despite having a strong bond with Rahm, Finau chose not to make any negative comments and instead showed support for his friend.
“Yeah, I think he made the best decision that he felt was right for his family and himself. I’m happy for him.”
Jason Day reacts to rumors
Jason Day is one of the golfers who has also been associated with going to LIV Golf for days.
He also denied in a media interview that he plans to join LIV Golf. There are some things he likes there, but that’s about it. “It’s still not for me,” he said. “I know there are rumors about me going. They’re totally false. I don’t know where these rumors start.
I still struggle to watch LIV. I do like some of the concepts they have. They just haven’t quite nailed either the format or the true excitement of what they’re trying to accomplish.”
