Elite golf action continues to come thick and fast this summer as the Travelers Championship takes place this week.

Following on from Wyndham Clark’s brilliant US Open victory, the best in the game will head to Connecticut for another designated event.

The Travelers is one of the top tournaments on tour and was won by Xander Schauffele last year.

Now, Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy will headline the field at TPC River Highlands this week.

McIlroy will be itching for victory here after he fell agonisingly short of major glory once again in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The FedEx Cup playoffs are also fast-approaching as the race for East Lake glory heats up.

Travelers Championship 2023: Date and how to follow 

The tournament is being held from Thursday, June 22 to Sunday, June 25. 

It will take place at TPC River Highlands in Connecticut. The course is a par 70 and measures 6,844 yards in length.

Play for the opening two rounds will begin at 12pm UK time while the action will get underway at 3pm over the weekend.

Travelers Championship 2023: Field and tee times

This tournament is another designated event on the PGA Tour meaning there will be a stellar field in Cromwell.

The world’s top three players, Scheffler, Rahm and McIlroy, will all tee it up.

The likes of Schauffele, Viktor Hovland, Matt Fitzpatrick and Max Home will also be in action.

Travelers Championship 2023: What has been said?

McIlroy remains confident he will end his major drought soon after he came up just one shot short at the US Open.

He said: “When I finally win this next major, it’s going to be really, really sweet.

“I would go through 100 Sundays like this to get my hands on another major championship.

“The golf course was playing really tricky but all in all, I played a solid round. It is fine margins at this level, at this tournament especially, but I fought to the very end.

“I’ll keep coming back until I get another one.”

Asked post-round when his preparations for The Open began, McIlroy said: “Three minutes ago.

“I’ll play Travelers, I’ll play the Scottish Open [at The Renaissance Club in Scotland in July] but I am focused on making sure that I am ready to go for Liverpool.”
