When is Arsenal v Manchester City this season? Premier League leaders still must play the defending champions TWICE as title race heats up

Arsenal are flying high at the top of the Premier League after a brilliant first 21 games of the season.

However, the title race is far from done as the Gunners must still play defending champions Manchester City TWICE this term.

Arsenal have been the best team in the Premier League this season

The first game between the two was postponed, but it is now fast approaching as Pep Guardiola’s side look to claw back the three-point deficit to the north Londoners.

But Arsenal, who have a game in hand over City, know that if they can win the first meeting at the Emirates, the trophy will be a step closer to returning to Arsenal for the first time since 2004.

Both sides play on Sunday, with City kicking off at 2pm against Wolves at the Etihad before the Gunners host Manchester United at 4:30pm.

The Red Devils and Everton are the only teams to beat Arsenal in the league, so this will prove to be a big test for the Gunners as the Premier League title race heats up.

When is Arsenal v Man City?

Their first Premier League clash this season is set to be held at the Emirates on Wednesday, February 15.

Kick-off is set for 7:30pm.

Their second meeting will then take place on Wednesday, April 26 at 8pm.

Why was Arsenal v Man City moved?

This game was initially meant to take place on Wednesday, October 19 but was moved after the Gunners’ Europa League match against PSV Eindhoven had to be changed.

Arsenal were meant to play PSV on Thursday, September 15 but had to cancel that match due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Police resources were set to be stretched, so the game couldn’t go ahead safely and Arsenal were at risk of forfeiting three points if they didn’t play that Europa League tie.

Eventually, it was agreed Arsenal would play against PSV in the Europa League on Thursday, October 20, meaning the City match was postponed.

Arsenal v Man City: What has been said?

Pep Guardiola speaking about Arsenal: “They [Arsenal] are going to do 100 or more points the way they have gone so far. If they continue this way, we will not catch them.

“We have to be almost perfect, I would say, from here to the end of the season and hope they drop a little bit in their performance, because yesterday (against Newcastle United) they were excellent.

“We will see what happens.”
