Mikel Arteta has been hailed for bringing an ‘unreal culture shift’ to Arsenal by Gunners Women’s star Jen Beattie.
It’s shaping up to be a memorable season for the men’s side, who find themselves top of the Premier League – and they have a game in hand on second-placed Manchester City, who they have a two-point cushion on.
Things aren’t going as well for the women’s side, with the three-time Women’s Super League champions currently fourth in the table.
But Beattie says the atmosphere at London Colney, the training ground where both Arsenal‘s men’s and women’s sides train, is a very positive one.
Beattie also shed light on the conversation her teammates have with members of the men’s team and hailed Arteta for the work he’s done at the club.
She told Drivetime: “We’re not on the exact training pitch, we’re kind of spread out over the training ground so we’re fully integrated in the sense that we’re at the training ground.
“We all have different schedules, plays on different days, training times are different, but the atmosphere is class at the minute.
“That’s what success brings, the men’s team are doing so well, the kind of culture shift that Mikel Arteta has brought in has been unreal.”
Beattie added: “I think anyone says it around the training ground that if you’re winning it’s always a good atmosphere, you’re proud to be a part of the club.
“Everyone’s asking about how their games are going and what’s coming up next. The guys are brilliant at that, they’re always coming up and saying hello and ask us how we’re doing.
“I think that’s the kind of culture that has seen a massive shift in the past few years.”
