Scottie Scheffler, world number one and defending champion, advanced this Saturday to the semifinals of the WGC Dell Technologies in Austin (Texas), in which he will face Sam Burns, while the Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy will face Cameron Young, in a tournament in which Jon Rahm fell on Friday in the group stage.

Scheffler has ten consecutive Match Play victories and beat JT Poston by a hole up and Australia’s Jason Day, a two-time Match Play winner, on Saturday by two holes up and one to play.
The reigning champion of the Augusta Masters and The Players was on the ropes in the round of 16, finding himself down two holes with four remaining. However, he won the fifteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth to get the round pass, in which he faced a Day who beat Matt Kuchar by a hole above.
