Alexander Zverev has taken another shot at Daniil Medvedev as the German says he has never been a player who uses tricks to throw off his opponent. On Thursday, Zverev was edged out by Medvedev in an absolute Monte Carlo Masters thriller.
After three hours of play and two saved match points, Medvedev outlasted Zverev 3-6 7-5 7-6 (7). The next day, it was reported that Zverev called Medvedev “one of the most unfair players in the world.” “I have never used a bathroom break to my advantage or taken an unnecessary time out.
I win and lose with tennis and I’m very proud of that,” Zverev said in Munich, per Florian Heer.

Zverev, Medvedev had some strong words for each other
Zverev absolutely unloaded in his post-match comments on Medvedev.
“He is one of the most unfair players in the world. I take fair play and sportsmanship very serious. He does not. He takes a toilet break when it’s not possible anymore. There are 1000 situations in which he feels that I start to play better and in which he tries to do something every time.
I’m extremely disappointed from him as an athlete. Of course you can argue that it’s not good form from me that I got distracted. This should not happen to me and it’s totally my fault and it really was bad from my side. But still I feel fairplay should always be part of sports,” Zverev told Sky after exiting Monte Carlo.
After reading Zverev’s comments, Medvedev told the German to first look himself in the mirror. “Sascha is not this guy. Sascha is not like Casper, he’s not like Diego, he’s not like Andrey. When he says someone is not fair play, you’re like, okay, great.
Look at yourself in the mirror,” Medvedev said. Also, Medvedev claimed several players mocked Zverev’s comments. “Sascha [Zverev] is living in his own world. I already had like five players in the locker room coming to me and saying ‘come on, Daniil, why are you so unfair (smiling)?’” Medvedev said.
