First golf lesson for Andres Iniesta. On the eve of the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, a DP World Tour tournament, the former Barcelona champion, now playing for the Emirates, tried his first shots on the green with the Spanish golfer Pablo Larrazabal in the United Arab Emirates.

Nicknamed Don Andres, and again, the Illusionist, Iniesta after having enchanted on the green rectangle by winning everything (9 Spanish championships, 6 King’s Cups, 7 Spanish Super Cups, 4 UEFA Champions League, 3 UEFA Super Cups, 3 Club World Cups, a world championship with Spain in 2010, and two European Championships, in 2008 and 2012 respectively) he now aims to follow his new passion, that of golf.

Andrés Iniesta Luján, born on May 11, 1984, in Fuentealbilla, Spain, is a legendary footballer known for his remarkable career. Currently, he showcases his skills as a midfielder for Emirates. His contributions to the Spanish national team have left an indelible mark in football history, including winning the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and the UEFA European Championships in 2008 and 2012.

Renowned by the monikers “Don Andrés” and “the Illusionist,” Iniesta is widely regarded as one of the finest midfielders in the annals of football and one of Spain’s greatest football icons. His exceptional talent and achievements are celebrated by fans and experts alike.

On an individual level, he achieved numerous accolades, including winning the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award in 2012, surpassing formidable rivals like Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. On October 14, 2014, he made history by becoming the first Spanish footballer to receive the Golden Foot award.

Additionally, in 2010, he secured the second position in the FIFA Ballon d’Or rankings, trailing only behind Lionel Messi. Notably, Iniesta is also part of the exclusive club of players with over 1000 career appearances. In his illustrious career, Iniesta amassed an astonishing total of thirty-eight trophies, placing him among the top players in terms of success.

A significant portion of his legacy is associated with Barcelona, where he clinched an impressive haul of titles: 9 Spanish championships, 6 Copa del Rey trophies, 7 Spanish Super Cups, 4 UEFA Champions League titles, 3 UEFA Super Cups, and 3 Club World Cups.

Towards the twilight of his career, he made a move to Vissel Kobe, a Japanese club, where he added an Emperor’s Cup and a Japanese Super Cup to his impressive collection. In the international arena, Iniesta represented Spain in four FIFA World Cup tournaments (2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018), three UEFA European Championships (2008, 2012, and 2016), and one FIFA Confederations Cup (2013).

He played pivotal roles in Spain’s victories, securing the European championships in 2008 and 2012, as well as the historic World Cup triumph in 2010. Notably, during the 2010 World Cup, Iniesta made history by scoring the decisive goal in the final against the Netherlands, securing a 1-0 victory in Johannesburg.
