Country Music Star Zach Bryan Apologizes For Disrespecting Cops Who Arrested Him

The country music star Zach Bryan is apologizing for disrespecting police officers as they arrested him on Thursday night, admitting that he “was out of line in the things I said.”

Bryan Apologizes After Arrest

NBC News reported that Bryan, 27, was arrested in Vinita, Oklahoma on Thursday evening for obstructing an investigation. After being released from jail on bond, Bryan took to social media to apologize to the officers who arrested him for how he treated them.

“Today I had an incident with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Emotions got the best of me and I was out of line in the things I said,” Bryan wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

“I support law enforcement as much as anyone can, I was just frustrated in the moment, it was unlike me and I apologize,” he added. “They brought me to jail, and there is a mug shot of me floating around.”

“Prayers we can all move on from this and prayers people know I’m just trying the best I can, I love you guys and I am truly sorry to the officers,” Bryan concluded.

Bryan Opens Up About Arrest

Page Six reported that Bryan doubled down on this in a video shared on his Instagram Story.

“I was an idiot today,” he said in the video. “My decisions did not reflect who I was as a person. I just want to make that clear. I should’ve been smarter about it.”

Bryan went on to say that he was driving through a small town in his home state “about three days ago” when he sped past a trooper, who responded by pulling him over and asking for his license, registration and address.

“I said, ‘Hey, man, I don’t really feel comfortable giving you my address. I’m a musician,’” he recounted. “He says, ‘If you don’t give me your address, I’m gonna have to take you to jail.’”

Bryan finally gave the officer his address after being told to get out of his vehicle so he could be handcuffed, and he was then freed.

“He gave me a warning ’cause I wasn’t going too fast or anything,” Bryan continued.

Bryan ran into this same officer on Thursday while he was trying to travel to Boston for the Philadelphia Eagles’ season opener against the New England Patriots that is scheduled for this weekend. Around 40 minutes into his road trip, he saw the officer pulling over his security guard, who was in a separate vehicle trailing him.

“Ten to 15 minutes go by, and I get out of the car, and I’m like, ‘Man, what is taking so long?’ And I was gonna smoke a cigarette,” Bryan recalled. “The cop comes up to me, and he’s like, ‘Sir, get back in your vehicle.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m not the one getting pulled over.’ He’s like, ‘Get back in your vehicle or I’m gonna have to take you to jail.’ And like a dumbass, I said, ‘Take me to f–kin’ jail? What do you mean?’”

“So I get too lippy with him,” he admitted. “He brings me over to his car, and I just didn’t help my situation at all. I felt like a child. It was ridiculous. It was immature. And I just pray everyone knows that I don’t think I’m above the law. I was just being disrespectful, and I shouldn’t have been, and it was my mistake.”

‘I Just Wanted To Apologize To The Trooper’

Bryan, whose new self-titled album became his first to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 just a few days ago, confessed that he began “mouthing off like an idiot” as he was handcuffed because he thought the cuffs were too “tight.”

“[The cop] says, ‘Hey, man, I’m gonna tell you this: Don’t interrupt me.’ And I was like, ‘Well, after you’re done, I’m gonna say my piece.’ He started talking, and I interrupted him — naturally, ’cause I’m just angry,” Bryan said.

Bryan concluded by assuring his fans that he “eventually shook hands” with the arresting officer after he had his mugshot taken.

“I just wanted to apologize to the trooper — both troopers — that I was rude to,” he concluded. “You didn’t deserve it, and hopefully one day we meet under difference circumstances.”

It seems that Bryan learned a very important life lesson yesterday. While we don’t condone the way he treated this officer, we applaud him for being able to own up to his mistake right away. Here’s hoping that Bryan never treats another member of law enforcement this way again!
