Elina Svitolina is set to team up with her husband Gael Monfils for their first mixed doubles match as they will be taking on Caroline Wozniacki and Holger Rune in a star-studded exhibition matchup.
Svitolina, 29, and 37-year-old Monfils have been married since 2021 and they played mixed doubles together for the first during a charity event at last year’s US Open. On June 11th, one of the most popular tennis couples will again be in action when they take on Denmark’s Wozniacki and Rune in Herning.
Wozniacki, who returned to tennis in August after being retired for three and a half years, is very familiar with facing Svitolina as they have played against each other six times. Their most recent came in Auckland earlier this year, when Svitolina beat Wozniacki 6-4 6-3 to improve to 5-1 in their head-to-head.
“It will be a big night against a class player like Svitolina, who I know very well and who I hope to take revenge on. Of course, I am also very much looking forward to playing with Holger in mixed doubles,” Wozniacki said in a statement.

While Wozniacki is excited about meeting Svitolina again, 20-year-old Rune is also ecstatic about clashing against Monfils – one of the most entertaining players in the game. When the two pairs meet, Rune hopes he can make it a show for the home crowd in Denmark.
“Monfils is a fantastically entertaining player, and I am looking forward to delivering a blast of a match for our Danish fans,” Rune said in a statement.
In July, the Paris Olympics are scheduled to take place. In August, Wozniacki revealed she was very open to playing mixed doubles with Rune at the Paris Olympics.
“Obviously, the Olympics would be awesome to play and mixed doubles with him would be a big goal. But we’ll see how everything shakes up,” Wozniacki said at the time.
