“For me it’s very tough”

Billy Horschel in tears: “For me it’s very tough”

Six bogeys, three double-bogeys, and not a single birdie, Billy Horschel was looking in vain for reasons for hope at the end of his first day on the Muirfield Village course where he brilliantly won last year. The 36-year-old Floridian, who missed the cut at the Genesis Invitational, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Players and the PGA Championship, has only one top 10 in 2023 clinched at the World Match Play Championships where he has was eliminated in the round of 16 by Cameron Young, 5&4!

Billy Horschel, statements

“It’s tough because I feel like we’re working well with the team. I didn’t hit well at the pro-am and at the practice video it didn’t look that bad. But on a course like this, it does not forgive.

My confidence is at a career low. It’s funny, as disturbing as it sounds, I also have the feeling that I’m not that far off”. With a card of 84 returned Thursday, he points to the penultimate place of the tournament seventeen strokes behind the leader, Davis Riley!

Let us underline the extreme professionalism shown by the American who did not slip away and answered the questions of the journalists with great lucidity. The Rules of Golf are a set of standard rules and procedures by which the sport of golf should be played.

They are jointly written and maintained by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, the governing body for golf worldwide, outside of the United States and Mexico, which are governed by the United States Golf Association.

An expert commission made up of members of the R&A and USGA, oversees and refines the rules every four years. The latest revision has been in force since January 1, 2016. Changes to the rules of golf generally fall into two main categories: those that improve understanding and those that in certain cases reduce penalties to ensure balance.

The rule book, entitled “Rules of Golf”, is published on a regular basis and also includes rules governing amateur status. In Italy it is up to Federgolf to supervise the competitions by enforcing the rules issued by the R & A, checking that these rules are observed by the Clubs, Associations and their members and manages the resulting sporting justice, protecting their interests abroad.
