Jelena Ostapenko was the protagonist of a curious action during the third round at the US Open. The Latvian tennis player, as she was preparing to win the match against Bernarda Pera, started arguing with an allegedly US fan, so much so that she demanded that she be removed from the stands.The fan annoyed the 26-year-old and not a little every time she was ready to serve, at one point also drawing the attention of the chair umpire who naturally called him back for the behavior she was holding.
In the end the same spectator took the way out, with Jelena who wanted to take a sort of revenge by making sweeping gestures with her hands to the fan to leave.Ostapenko returned to the case in the press conference and explained what happened: “I was leading 4-1 in the third set and suddenly, while I was serving, she started screaming like crazy.
And not a word or two, but two or three sentences in a row. Of course the referee told him to shut up. He left and so I told him to do it.”Even the Latvian player highlighted in front of the media the strong smell of marijuana or cannabis that can be felt from the court, especially in the one where she played her last match: “With weed it’s a normal thing.
I smell it every game. I don’t I’m surprised other tennis players have seen this and complained.”

Iga Swiatek beat Kaja Juvan 6-0, 6-1 in under 50 minutes.
