“I can’t wait for retirement day”

Andy Murray suffered a serious injury at the end of the 3rd round match of the Miami Open against Thomas Machac, which could put an early end to his glorious career.

The Scot has repeatedly declared that this will be his last season. The end of a beautiful journey that led him to break several records and win numerous titles, including 3 Slams and two Olympic gold medals. The former ATP No.1 could thus have played the last match of his professional career in Florida.

The end, however, is not far away. Everyone hopes to see him play at least one last time at Wimbledon, but everything will depend on how the Scotsman reacts and recovers from the serious injury suffered in Miami.

“I can’t wait for the end now, I’ll give it my all in the next few months and then I’ll go home to my family,” he told.

Murray to the farewell

However, the three-time Slam champion is proud of the level he is having in recent weeks. A performance and continuity that he had been missing for a while.

“It’s a good thing, I’ve shown signs of growth in my game and improvements highlighted in the last few tournaments. It’s not perfection yet, but considering how successful I was, managing to win some games against these opponents and pushing Thomas to the limit today is something that makes me proud because being able to do what I did after what I went through is really difficult,” he explained.

“Miami has been a special place throughout my career, it’s really been like a second home because I’ve spent a lot of time training here and I love this city. But I wasn’t thinking about all the games.

It was a particularly important tournament for me, so today it was emotional to leave the field as it presumably will be in other events I have played here, but only that it was the last one and I would have liked to make it last a little longer,” analyzed Murray.
