Jake Paul sends message to Tommy Fury after choosing Nate Diaz fight over rematch

Jake Paul told Tommy Fury ‘enjoy your victory’ after opting to fight UFC legend Nate Diaz next over a rematch.

‘The Problem Child’ dropped Tyson Fury’s little brother but was outpointed over eight rounds when they squared off in Saudi Arabia earlier this year and it was thought they would face off again soon.

Fury beat Paul in Saudi Arabia

It was Paul’s first fight against a true boxer and his first defeat. The YouTuber had amassed a 6-0 record before then by beating faded UFC fighters, a professional basketball player, and a fellow internet celebrity.

A rematch clause was built into his latest fight contract, and Paul insisted in the immediate aftermath of the fight that he would be activating it, but he has now gone another route.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Paul will return to fighting MMA stars for his next bout which will be against UFC legend Nate Diaz in Utah on August 5.

Diaz is a massive name in the combat sports world and one of the most popular. The 37-year-old is one of the better MMA boxers and has been feuding with Paul over the past year, so the fight should do decent pay-per-view numbers.

Mere moments after his comeback opponent was announced, Paul uploaded a YouTube video that addressed his first career loss and an inevitable rematch with Fury.

He said: “I have been in the gym since the day I got back from Saudi.

“I literally got off the flight, came home, and went on a four-mile jog. I’ve been working out every single day, six days a week, filled with vengeance to come back and take what’s mine because I know I can beat Tommy.

“That was the worst version of me possible. It just wasn’t my night, he was the better man, he had an amazing performance, and congrats to Tommy for that. But I wanna come back and take what’s mine from that kid.

“I hope he enjoys it. Tommy, I hope you’re enjoying this victory. You know, you earned it. Respect. Enjoy it for as long as possible because you’re not going to have the taste of victory on your tongue for a while.”

Fury took some of the shine away from Paul’s announcement when he shared a mock fight poster that features him and former One Direction star Liam Payne.

Rumours started to swirl that they are set to fight but it was later revealed that they will feature on opposing teams at Soccer Aid this summer.

It’s currently unclear who Fury will fight next. The 23-year-old has been enjoying spending time with his young family and having fun in the gym with former World’s Strongest Man Eddie Hall.
