Katie Taylor squares off with Amanda Serrano as rematch UFC superstar Conor McGregor wants to sponsor is confirmed for May 20 in Dublin

Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano 2 is official for May 20 in Dublin.

‘The Bray Bomber’ jumped into the ring in New York on Saturday night to square off with Serrano after she beat Erika Cruz by unanimous decision to become the undisputed featherweight champion.

They’ll now rematch in the Irish capital for Taylor’s undisputed lightweight championship later this year according to boxing promoter Eddie Hearn who announced the fight on DAZN.

Taylor, who has famously never fought in her home country as a professional boxer, is delighted to be heading to Dublin for the biggest fight of her career.

The 36-year-old said “This is more than a dream come true. My debut in Ireland against Amanda Serrano, ‘The Real Deal’ Amanda Serrano. This is incredible. The last fight was epic, and I expect nothing less for the next one.”

Serrano added: “She deserves to fight in Ireland, and it’s going to be a bigger and better fight over there. I know what I need to do.”

Last May, Taylor successfully defended her WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and Ring titles via a razor-thin split decision after 10 rounds of back-and-forth with the seven-weight world champion, Serrano.

The fight was billed as the biggest in women’s boxing history as Taylor and Serrano made $1 million each and they more than earned their money as they put on one hell of a show for those in attendance, including talkSPORT Breakfast host Laura Woods, who loved every second of the event.

Joint 27. Croke Park (Dublin, Republic of Ireland) – 82,300

Eddie Hearn claims Croke Park is too costly but Conor McGregor wants to see Taylor fight at the 80,000-seater stadium

It was hoped that a rematch would take place at Croke Park in front of 80,000+ people but Taylor’s promoter, Hearn, recently ruled out the Gaelic Athletic Association HQ as a potential venue as it costs three times more to rent than Wembley Stadium.

However, UFC legend Conor McGregor is keen to see his compatriot fight at Croke Park and is willing to sponsor Taylor-Serrano 2 to the tune of €500,000.

Hearn is now in touch with ‘Notorious’ on social media and is planning a trip to Ireland to discuss a potential deal with the former dual-weight UFC champion.

If those talks amount to nothing, it’s been suggested that the fight will take place in front of around 13,000 people at Dublin’s 3Arena.
