LIV Golf does not give up on its intentions and wants to attract big stars to its Tour. Although PGA Tour players fiercely resist the figures that LIV Golf offers them, it seems that some may falter in the coming period. Especially, if we are to judge by the words of Phil Mickelson.
The Chipping Forecast was an opportunity for Eddie Pepperell to reveal some information that surprised everyone. Namely, Eddie confirmed that he has information that says that Jon Rahm offered LIV Golf the amount he wanted in order to play.
However, the figure was huge, and LIV officials refused. “I heard that Jon Rahm… I heard that LIV had approached 15 players this year asking them for a rough figure as to what would get them across and I was told that Rahm’s figure was so prohibitively large that LIV rejected it.
So, make of that what you want.”- Pepperell said.
Jon Rahm
In a recent interview, the Spaniard, Jon Rahm, underscored his commitment to the PGA Tour and stated that LIV Golf was not on his radar. However, if Eddie’s information holds true, it appears that Rahm’s earlier statement might not have been entirely candid.
“I just stayed because I think it’s the best choice for myself and for the golf I want to play. We all had the chance to go to LIV and take the money and we chose to stay at the PGA Tour for whatever reason we chose. As I’ve said before, I already make an amazing living doing what I do.”– Rahm said.
Brandle Chamblee has also ’caused a stir’ with his posts on X lately. He stressed that he was concerned that Rahm might join LIV Golf. “Rahm worries me a bit as he seems open to the idea,” he wrote on X. “But I sense that his deep knowledge of the history of the game and his obvious future place in it will keep him from selling out.
I hope that’s the case.”
