Novak Djokovic agrees the constant ball changes around the Tour is “an issue” and underlined that there needs to be “more consistency” in the ball selection. Over the last month, players’ criticism and displeasure with the constant ball changes in tournaments have skyrocketed.
Djokovic, who is set to play his first tournament since the US Open at the Paris Masters, was asked about the issue in Paris. Djokovic agreed with his colleagues and also revealed that he understands the ATP plans to address the issue in the near future.
“It’s now the 5th tournament in a row playing with different balls. It’s an issue. We need more consistency. There’s an understanding from (the ATP). There will be meetings soon with the different things they can do,” Djokovic said, via Tennis Majors.

Djokovic agrees the constant ball changes is ‘an issue’
Just a couple of days ago in Vienna, Daniil Medvedev explained what exactly was the issue with the balls.
Also, Medvedev claimed those balls were causing him injuries and also added that numerous other players were complaining about the same thing. “Yup. I mean, it’s the usual ATPs, if I’m not mistaken. They get very big, they swell a lot and, once again, I would never talk about it, if I were the only one.
I would never talk about it too much, why, what would be the meaning? If I were the only one talking about this it would be stupid. But when we are in the locker room everyone thinks the same thing. When I say everyone, maybe not 100%, but 50% yes.
And there are many. In any case, this year I am playing well and I think I can play well with these balls. But I don’t want to feel shoulder pain for the rest of my life. So, I hope a solution can be found in some way,” Medvedev said.
