Nuggets will celebrate NBA title with parade through downtown Denver

The Denver Nuggets won their first-ever NBA championship on Monday night, beating the Miami Heat, 94-89, in Ball Arena to complete a five-game NBA Finals series win.

The party raged through the night in Denver, and the festivities aren’t done yet.

Like the Avalanche and Broncos after past titles, the team (along with the City and County of Denver) will hold a championship rally and parade through downtown Denver on Thursday, June 15.

Here’s what you need to know about the Nuggets’ victory party.

When is the Nuggets’ championship parade?

The celebration is divided into three parts.

Civic Center Park (101 14th Ave., Denver) will host a pre-rally beginning at 9 a.m. The parade will follow at 10 a.m. and take approximately two hours.

The celebration will wrap up with a rally at Civic Center Park, starting around noon.

The parade route through Denver

The Nuggets’ championship parade will start at Union Station (17th Street and Wynkoop) and roll southeast down 17th before turning south on Broadway and ultimately ending at Civic Center Park.

What will happen at the Nuggets’ parade, victory rally?

The pre-rally will feature Nuggets season highlights, live music and live video from the parade once it rolls.

The parade itself will include Denver players, coaches, team personnel and front-office staff standing atop fire trucks from the City of Denver and various Colorado fire departments, plus other official vehicles.

Also featured in the parade? Team mascot Rocky, Nuggets dancers, Mile High City hype squad, Average Joes dance group, franchise owner Stan Kroenke and son/team president Josh, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and more.

There will be video boards airing the parade live at Civic Center Park. Video screens will be positioned on Bannock Street and throughout the park.

The team recommends that fans bring their own supply of water but leave chairs at home.

The rally at noon will take place on a stage at the top steps of the City and County Building.

The Kroenkes, Hancock, Nuggets coach Michael Malone and Denver players like Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon and more are expected to address the crowd as part of the rally program.
