Marcus Rashford was back on the scoresheet as Manchester United returned to winning ways by downing Brentford 1-0.
Rashford had suffered a mini goal drought by his own standards in 2023 after failing to find the back of the net in his last three games.
But the England star rewarded Erik ten Hag’s faith in deploying him through the middle ahead of Wout Weghorst by slamming home his 28th goal of the season – his 20th since the World Cup – before the break.
United had plenty of opportunities to extend their lead but proved wasteful in front of goal and were almost made to pay.
The Red Devils ultimately had their goalkeeper David de Gea to thank after he denied substitute Kevin Schade one-on-one late on.
