The 2023 Fashion Icon Serena Williams will receive a new honor, following the award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America. For me, who is writing this article and who has been following Serena’s career for fifteen years, it is a thrill to be able to share this news with you: Serena will be inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame 2024, and will join the over 300 illustrious American women already present.

The National Women’s Hall of Fame announced Serena’s nomination for 2024, highlighting the importance of the legendary North American former player’s work both on and off the court. In a statement, the board of the NWHF explained: “Serena Williams is a highly regarded tennis champion, entrepreneur, investor, fashion designer, and executive producer.

Serena established her venture capital firm Serena Ventures in 2017, which focuses on investing in women and founders of color and has since built a portfolio of over 20 early-stage companies.” Jennifer Gabriel, the Hall of Fame’s chief executive, added: “The 2024 class of inductees are scientists, activists, performers, and athletes who are the changemakers of today and inspiration for the women of tomorrow.”

Serena Williams rewrote tennis history

23 Slams in women’s singles, 4 Olympic golds (in singles and doubles) and 73 total titles.

Serena has overcome racial obstacles and barriers of all kinds throughout her career, transcending sport and becoming an icon of our generation. After her retirement at the 2022 edition of the US Open, she will leave an extremely difficult legacy for young tennis players who are trying to occupy the space held by Serena.

Her career paved the way for a new generation of young stars like Iga Swiatek, Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff. Serena has also branched out into many fields, becoming a business woman with a fortune of over a billion dollars. Her social battles, her fashion side: for me, writing this article, it is difficult to compare Serena with other athletes. She has lived all-around to become an icon. She is the Suzanne Lenglen of this era.
