Stefanos Tsitsipas reveals his goal is to beat the best ranking of his girlfriend Paula Badosa. Last year, Badosa achieved a career-high ranking of No 2 in the world. On Saturday night, Tsitsipas defeated Alex de Minaur in the Los Cabos final 6-3 6-4 to win his first title of the year.

Tsitsipas, who was ranked at No 5 when Los Cabos started, improved to No 4 following his win in Mexico. Tsitsipas, a former world No 3, has now set his eyes on reaching the top spot for the first time in his career.

Tsitsipas: I want to surpass Badosa’s best ranking

“My goals are to surpass Paula’s best ranking, which is world No 2.

And to get better than that. The good thing about us is that we get competitive in those things in a healthy way so I hope I get to equal it or even better. Right now, good first set to get there or move to get there. But still very long journey to get to a point like this.

I feel like my tennis is good and that was a good test for me this week,” Tsitsipas said after his Los Cabos win.Meanwhile, Tsitsipas was very happy with how he started his summer on hard courts. “I will take the positives out of this week.

I had a few good matches here and I think it’s a good start to the [North American hardcourt] swing. We’ve experienced a lot of good tennis this week from a lot of good players. The competition was high, and I’m happy to walk away with the trophy,” Tsitsipas said. Now, Tsitsipas’ focus turns to the Toronto Masters.

In Toronto, Tsitsipas is the fourth-seeded player and has a first-round bye. After a first-round bye, Tsitsipas will play against either Gael Monfils or Christopher Eubanks.
