NBA star Stephen Curry will receive the Charlie Sifford Award “for promoting diversity in golf.” This is the announcement from the World Golf Hall of Fame, with Curry who will receive the recognition on June 10, 2024 at the induction ceremony at the 124th edition of the US Open, scheduled at the Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina, from 13 to 16 June.

Wardell Stephen Curry II, known as Steph (Akron, March 14, 1988), is an American basketball player. Stephen Curry is captain of the Golden State Warriors with whom he reached the NBA finals six times, losing on two occasions against the Toronto Raptors and the Cleveland Cavaliers but winning the NBA four times, beating the Cleveland Cavaliers on three occasions and the Boston Celtics once in in which the best player of the NBA finals wins.

In the 2015-2016 season they also set the record for victories in the regular season (73, surpassing the previous record of Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls). In the same season, he was unanimously elected MVP of the regular season, an award he had also won the previous year.

In 2022 he won the best player award of the NBA finals (also unanimously).[2][3][4][5] For the Warriors he is also the best scorer in history. Considered the best shooter in the history of basketball, he is considered among the greatest and most influential basketball players ever.

He holds the record for the most threes scored in a season (402 in the 2015-2016 season) and the second for threes made in a single game (13, obtained on November 7, 2016, a record later surpassed by Klay Thompson). On December 14, 2021, he became the player with the most triples scored in NBA history, beating the previous record held by Ray Allen (2,973).

On December 28, 2021, in the game against the Denver Nuggets, he becomes the first and currently only player in NBA history to surpass 3,000 3-pointers made in his career. In the ranking drawn up by ESPN in 2020, Curry occupies 13th place in the ranking of the 74 best NBA players of all time.

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the birth of the NBA, at the beginning of the 2021-22 season the league drew up a list of the 75 greatest players of all time, among which Curry was also included.
