York betting tips
3.00: Pink Crystal 11/4
It’s hard to know just how good a couple of these three-year-old fillies are, Radio Goo Goo and Distinguished Lady.
But Pink Crystal, despite carrying the top-weight, should justify favouritism at a great 11/4 price as the uncertainty of giving weight away levels the playing field to a very open contest.
International Girl might pose the biggest threat, especially with a course and distance win under her belt.
But Pink Crystal has gone close here twice already and in her last four runs has been in esteemed company making her the pick on seasonal debut.
In a listed fillies’ stakes at Ayr on September 16, She placed second behind Gale Force Maya prompting a rise of 9lb.
Despite going off a mark of 87 and just 5lb below Gale Force Maya’s rating of 107, she kept on well and finished just under a length behind the Michael Dods-trained superstar.
And last time out before her winter break she handled that rise in the weights coming third behind Azure Blue and Makarova – this time beating Gale Force Maya.

That form works out well with the winner of that now rated 114 after winning the Chaloner Stakes and the Group 2 Clipper Stakes.
On that basis she could still be working off a very handy mark and capable of beating her rivals in some style.
3.35: Shining Blue 11/10
Exceed And Excel gelding who bounced back in Britain in May with a four length victory over Bopedro after a stint in Meydan.
Won the Dubai Eye taking home £40k and went up the weights with a good third in a listed race.
Couldn’t get to grips with a highly competitive conditions race next time out where the prize money was up to £150k.
But a short break saw him more than ready here on good to firm and should go well again after course victory carrying top-weight.
Could still be a way from reaching his ceiling mark on that evidence as he was eased to victory.
Cork betting tips
6.00: Ano Syra 5/2
This filly did well to come third in a pacey Group 2 Greenlands Stakes at the end of May, finishing behind Art Power at 14/1.
That was her first run since September and was going well but couldn’t keep up with the leader in the final furlong.
She’s back down to 5f now though which should suit if that run is anything to go by.
Art Power was clear of the field but the next two, Big Gossey and Ano Syra were also well ahead of the rest, in Garrus, My Eyes Adore You and Moss Tucker.
Aintree betting tips
6.25: Shearer & Landen Calling exacta
Difficult to gauge how good Landen Calling is over fences after just one run, similarly Shearer who also won on his first start over fences at Ludlow in May.
He was carrying 15lb more than the odds-on favourite and with a tempo increase deployed at the right time by Harry Cobden he kept on well despite hanging right after the last.
Will have learned a lot from that and should beat the lower rated Fergal O’Brien-trained horse.
But he does employ Jack Hogan on board this grey gelding to take a crucial 5lb off and the market on the evening before the race looks to have this right at 2/1 and 3/1 respectively which boosts the chances of a forecast coming in.
6.50: Martel
An evenly weighted Class 3 Handicap Hurdle is probably the highlight of the meeting here at Aintree on that basis.
Father Of Jazz is a clear favourite early on but the handicap experience of Hurricane Ali should stand him in good stead, especially after winning this last year ahead of El Borracho when it was called the Huyton Asphalt Handicap Hurdle.
The seven-year-old gelding has been in around this mark for quite sometime but can often spring a good run, albeit not by far.
He also ran very well to come half a length off victory last time out at Warwick, to finish behind the well-in Coolnaugh Haze in second and the winner out for the first time since a wind op, Glorious Zoff.
Who would surely have won again at Bangor but fell at the last when three lengths ahead of Feel The Pinch and Hidalgo De L’Isle.
