A championship golf course will be built near the new Mayflower Resort by Tiger Woods‘ company, TGR Design. Many golf fans were delighted by this news, and the course is expected to be truly impressive. Thomas Wright, CEO and principal broker of Summit Sotheby’s spoke about the importance of this project.
“When you have Olson Kundig designing the lodge and you have Tiger Woods designing the golf course, it’s going to be a high-end clientele, people who want exclusivity and the ability to golf when they want to and ski when they want to,” Wright said, as quoted by kpcw.org “What we’ve seen in some communities is that they’re a little crowded.
It’s hard to get a tee time, it’s hard to get out and so exclusivity in this luxury golf development was really important”. The location will have a great view, and Tiger Woods is excited about it. Something special will be represented by it.
“It has ridgelines with some of the most stunning views in the world, valleys with amazing contours and topography and groves of trees that allow me to use creativity to bring to life a golf experience that’s something special,” Woods said.
Tiger Woods influence
Easton Folster, executive director of the Utah Golf Association believes that the fact that Tiger Woods is involved in the project is reason enough to believe that it is a great project. “Obviously, when you attach Tiger Woods’ name to anything, it’s going to be first class,” Folster said.
“While I’m not necessarily overly familiar with the architecture side of the golf industry, being able to have, you know, Tiger Woods involved with the project in Park City and in Utah, it’s going to be massive. It’s going to be great for the industry, it’s going to be great for golf and the golfing community.
Eventually the golf course will need to be rated and be given a proper course rating, that is something that we’ll provide and look forward to providing. And then we will also maintain all of the handicaps of all the members that will eventually be there.
So our involvement, it has not been up front, but they will be one of our member clubs and we’re excited to have them”.
