Tom Grennan exclusive: I’m flying Coventry fan from Argentina to Wembley but I’ll be on open-top bus if we manage to beat Luton

Tom Grennan has paid for a Coventry City fan to fly from Argentina to attend the play-off final at Wembley Stadium.

The popstar is an avid Sky Blues’ fan and has made the generous gesture to allow the supporter, named Lauti, to attend the showpiece event against Luton.

The stakes couldn’t be higher with the winner set to earn a place in the Premier League, however Grennan himself is unable to attend due to his commitments of performing at Radio One’s Big Weekend in Dundee.

But while the 27-year-old can’t be there himself, he told talkSPORT how he was keen to make the dream come true for the fan whom he has much in common with.

He said: “I can’t go to the play-off final unfortunately because I’m doing a festival this weekend but I’ve been following this lad called Lauti from Argentina since I became a fan of Coventry because I know he became a fan at the same time which was In 2018.

“We’ve watched Coventry go from League Two and go up the table to League One, the Championship and hopefully now, the Premier League.

“I saw Lauti tweet about how he needs to sell his car to get to Wembley and I was like, ‘no, not happening, you can have my place and I’ll pay for you to come over’.

“I’m not doing it for anything else but the love of football and if he’s there to see Coventry get promoted, what a moment. All of the Coventry fans, it’s a different experience when you go and see Coventry. There’s an energy there and a love there that I’ve never really experience before in football and that’s why I fell in love with the club.

“I just want him to experience it and let me know how it is.”

But while Lauti will be enjoying the action at Wembley, Grennan says that he’s already cleared his diary for a potential promotion party with the Sky Blues next week.

He said: “It’s been an unbelievable season and what a job Mark Robins has done. The team has just grinded it out, but I can see it being a bit of a tough game.

“I think it’s going to be a good one. The sun’s going to be out so I’m gutted I’m missing it, to be honest.

“If Coventry win, I’ve already booked my spot on the (open top) bus on Monday so, it’s happening.”
