Tottenham can have Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp in charge

Tottenham have been told they must get rid of chairman Daniel Levy otherwise they will continue to play ‘crap football’ under every new manager.

That is the view of ex-Arsenal and Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant, who has insisted Levy is the ‘root source’ of the club’s problems.

Spurs axed interim boss Cristian Stellini on Monday after being humiliated by Newcastle

With Spurs in turmoil on and off the pitch, the decision was made on Monday to relieve interim manager Cristian Stellini of his duties after the 6-1 drubbing at Newcastle.

Sacking Conte hasn’t brought Levy the results he craved, with Spurs now in danger of finishing outside the top four after back-to-back defeats.

talkSPORT understands that former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann is back on Spurs’ radar with the German potentially open to taking charge.

But the 35-year-old has been warned he faces an impossible job of turning things around in the white half of north London.

Pennant has claimed that Spurs could have Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp at the helm, and nothing would change as long as Levy is running the club with Conte, Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino all failing.

Speaking on the Sports Bar, talkPORT host Pennant said: “I think you need to get Levy out.

“They’ve had top managers that have won Champions Leagues, Premier League titles.

“Conte, Mourinho, and even they’re struggling. You’ve got Poch, who is a great manager, and even he was struggling.

“So it doesn’t matter who you get in, you could get Pep, you could get Klopp, you could get the best in the league.”

Interjecting, ex-Chelsea and Tottenham defender Cundy asked Pennant if he believes that Guardiola would fail at Spurs.

To which he stated: “100 per cent. What they’ve got now, what the manager you get in now, will not do anything.

“It will be same old Spurs, start off good, and end up playing crap football and dropping off the league.

“They need to change from the top – Levy needs to go, 100 per cent.

“You can’t fix something if you don’t go to the root source.”

Next up for Spurs is a home clash against Manchester United on Thursday night, which you can listen live to on talkSPORT.
