Vanderbilt men’s team fell with Cowboys but wins with Bruins!

Vanderbilt University men’s tennis team got a doubleheader against Oklahoma State and Music City, Belmont. The Commodores fell in the final tiebreak to the Cowboys, but exited on top of the Bruins. As reported by the Vanderbilt University website, Cox and Sisam picked up two more points for Vanderbilt, each winning two straight sets on their respective courts.

However, with the Cowboys grabbing three points, the game eventually came down to field 4 where Siim Troost forced a third set tiebreak, but fell 8-6. Dores took advantage of the match early with Nathan Cox and Michael Ross taking court 2, and Joubert Klopper and Macsen Sisam won the tiebreak to secure a fifth straight doubles win and doubles point for Vandy.

Head coach Ian Duvenhage explained: “Today were two really good games. It’s a shame we lost to Oklahoma State: after beating No. 21 MTSU in Murfreesboro, next time they’ll probably be ranked in the top 25. We had them on the ropes.

We were up a set at the break. I just couldn’t put them down. That was our problem – we’re moving forward, but we’re not pushing people away. Hopefully we can work it out and go from there.”
